| Bioactivity: |
Scrambled beta-Amyloid (1-42) functions as a critical negative control in amyloid beta research. While it shares the exact same amino acid composition as wild-type human A beta 1-42 (42 residues), the randomized sequence disrupts the hydrophobic LVFFA core (residues 17-21) responsible for beta-sheet-driven self-assembly. As a result, this scrambled variant does not form amyloid fibrils, does not generate toxic oligomers, and exhibits no significant neurotoxicity toward primary hippocampal neurons. It also lacks binding affinity for key A beta 1-42 receptor targets including neuronal PrPC, LRP1, and NMDA receptors. |
