Peptide synthesis stands at the core of modern biopharmaceutical research, diagnostic development, and functional biomaterial innovation, enabling precise custom production of peptide molecules tailored for diverse academic, industrial, and clinical applications. At NovoPep, we integrate decades of peptide chemistry expertise with cutting-edge optimized synthesis workflows to deliver high-purity, high-yield custom peptides that meet the strict quality requirements of your downstream experiments and commercial projects.

Overview of Core Peptide Synthesis Methodologies

Our technical system covers all mainstream mature peptide synthesis approaches, combined with our proprietary process improvements to balance synthesis efficiency, product purity, and cost-effectiveness for different sequence characteristics:

1. Solid-Phase Peptide Synthesis (SPPS)

First pioneered by Merrifield in 1963, SPPS has evolved into the industry standard for routine peptide production, and forms the foundation of NovoPep's custom synthesis service system.

·         Core working principle: The C-terminal of the first target amino acid is covalently anchored to an insoluble specialized resin carrier. We then repeat the standardized "deprotection - amino acid coupling - washing" cycle to extend the peptide chain sequentially from the C-terminus to the N-terminus. After the full target sequence is assembled, the crude peptide is cleaved from the resin and purified to obtain the final product.

·         Our optimized workflow supports two dominant protection strategies:

o    ‌FMOC Strategy‌: The most widely adopted mainstream route, operating under mild reaction conditions that avoid harsh hydrofluoric acid processing, making it ideal for producing 2-50 amino acid peptides with high batch stability.

o    ‌BOC Strategy‌: Suitable for synthesizing complex long-chain peptides and sequences containing special modification sites, with unique advantages for manufacturing peptides that require high resistance to extreme cleavage conditions.

·         Key advantages of our SPPS system: Easy full-process automation, no complicated intermediate purification steps, high sequence fidelity, and excellent scalability that can smoothly transition from milligram-level academic R&D orders to hundred-kilogram-level commercial production batches.

2. Solution-Phase Peptide Synthesis (LPPS)

As a complementary mature technology to SPPS, we apply LPPS for mass production of short-chain simple peptides to deliver outstanding cost benefits for our clients.

·        Core features: All amino acid condensation reactions are carried out in a homogeneous solution system. We perform targeted purification and crystallization of intermediates after each coupling step, which significantly improves raw material utilization.

·         Application scenarios: It is the optimal choice for large-scale commercial production of 2-10 amino acid short peptides, including raw materials for cosmetic active ingredients, nutritional supplement peptide additives, and universal diagnostic peptide antigens.
